|
|
The following steps will enable Windows Mobile 5 devices using Active Sync 4.x to create Pocket Access (.cdb) databases by copying and pasting a PC Access database to an Active Sync connected Pocket PC device.
Microsoft, by default dropped this functionality when upgrading from PPC 2003 to Windows Mobile 5.0. The following will re-enable this feature.
*This procedure is only required for Windows Mobile 5.0 users.
1. Copy the 4 files in the http://www.TierraMapper.com/Downloads/WindowsMobile5PocketAccess.zip file to your Pocket PC in the \Windows directory.
2. Register the adosync.dll. From your Pocket PC, open File Explorer and navigate the \Windows\Regsvrce.exe file. Click on this file and type the full path to the adosync.dll, \Windows\adosync.dll, and click OK.
3. On the desktop, remove the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\SpecialDefaults\PocketPC04\Services\Synchronization\Objects\~MicrosoftTable
4. Disconnect and reconnect the PPC device before "Pocket Access" sync enabled.
You are now ready to copy an Access database to your Pocket PC and Active Sync will prompt you with the Pocket Access (.cdb) conversion dialog as in PPC 2003. _________________ Cheers, Mike

I did what you said to allow .cdb files in WM5, however in Tierramapper, when trying to create layers in WM5 I do not get the Access Database choice, only the Shapefile and VCE form options.
Is there anything to do for that options? |

What this procedure does is allow you to CREATE Pocket Access databases on your Windows Mobile 5 device, just like you could on PPC2003 devices. To use a Pocket Access database on a Windows Mobile 5 device you will need to develop (or have already developed) a Visual CE application based on the Pocket Access database you can create on your device with ActiveSync after doing the procedure in this help topic.
This help topic is intended for Visual CE users that have applications built using Pocket Access databases.
Tierra Mapper does support direct access/read of Pocket Access databases on PPC 2003 devices but does not on Windows Mobile 5 devices.
I hope this clarifies. _________________ Cheers, Mike

PLEASE NOTE! This fix does not work with Active Sync 4.5. Use Active Sync 4.2. _________________ Cheers, Mike
